Central India’s Covid-19 Update: 1,086 New Cases Reported, Active Cases Drop

India reported 1,086 new cases of Covid-19 in a single day, bringing the total number of cases to 4,30,30,925, with active cases dropping to 11,871, according to updated data from the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday.

The death toll rose to 5,21,487 with 71 new fatalities as of 8 am, according to the latest data.

Active cases account for 0.03% of total infections, with a national recovery rate of 98.76%, as stated by the ministry.

A decrease of 183 cases in active Covid-19 cases was recorded within 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate is 0.23%, with a weekly rate of 0.22%, as reported by the ministry.

The number of recovered individuals reached 4,24,97,567, with a case fatality rate of 1.21%.

Over 185.04 crore doses have been administered in India under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive.

India reached the milestone of 20 lakh cases on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. The country surpassed 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and one crore on December 19.

India crossed two crore cases on May 4 and three crore on June 23 last year.

Of the 71 new fatalities, 66 were from Kerala.

A total of 5,21,487 deaths have been reported in the country, including 1,47,793 in Maharashtra, 68,196 in Kerala, 40,055 in Karnataka, 38,025 in Tamil Nadu, 26,154 in Delhi, 23,497 in Uttar Pradesh, and 21,199 in West Bengal.

The ministry emphasized that over 70% of deaths were due to comorbidities.

The ministry mentioned that the figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research, and state-wise distribution is subject to further verification.
