Estimated read time 1 min read

Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah, continuing his party’s critique of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, stated on Friday that the deadlock in Parliament could be resolved through talks with the Opposition. Speaking at the India Today Conclave-2023, Shah emphasized the need for both sides to come together for discussions, suggesting that the government is willing to take proactive steps if the Opposition does the same. He stressed the importance of dialogue between the Treasury and the Opposition, highlighting the necessity for both to engage with each other in order for the parliamentary system to function effectively. Shah also expressed disappointment at the lack of initiative from the Opposition for talks, criticizing their reliance on media statements instead. He took a swipe at Rahul Gandhi, pointing out that certain issues should transcend politics and referencing former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s refusal to discuss domestic politics while abroad. Shah urged the Congress to uphold this tradition and questioned the appropriateness of making allegations about India while abroad or in the parliaments of other countries.
