The anticipatory bail application of Dileep and five others in a case related to the threatening of investigation officers probing the sexual assault of a Malayalam actress in 2017, has been adjourned by the Kerala High Court to January 21. The interim protection from arrest for the actor has been extended till Friday. Justice Gopinath P has scheduled the next hearing for Friday as per the prosecution’s request for more time. The court had previously requested the recorded statement of movie director Balachandra Kumar in the fresh case against Dileep during the anticipatory bail hearing on January 14. Dileep, along with his younger brother P Sivakumar and brother-in-law T N Suraj, have all approached the high court seeking anticipatory bail. The Crime Branch registered a case on January 9 based on a complaint by an investigating officer regarding an audio clip of Dileep allegedly conspiring to attack the official. The actor and five others are facing charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. They have claimed that the complaint against them by Deputy SP (Crime Branch) Baiju Paulose is false and baseless. The victim, who has worked in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam films, was abducted and molested inside her car by some of the accused in 2017. The entire act was filmed to blackmail the actress. Initially, seven people were arrested in the case, with Dileep being arrested later and released on bail.
