India successfully conducted a test launch of the tactical ballistic missile Prithvi-II from a test range off the Odisha coast on Tuesday. The Ministry stated that the training launch on January 10 at the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur was a success.

The Prithvi-II missile, a crucial component of India’s nuclear deterrence, hit its target with exceptional precision. The user training launch confirmed the operational and technical parameters of the missile.

Powered by light propulsion twin engines, the missile has a range of approximately 350 km and can carry warheads weighing between 500-1,000 kg. It utilizes an advanced inertial navigation system for accurate targeting.

The successful test launch of Prithvi-II at night in 2018 and 2019 demonstrated its reliability. Developed under the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme by the DRDO, Prithvi continues to be a key asset for India.
