Balancing Tradition and Innovation for the Future of Armed Forces

Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister, emphasized the importance of upholding armed forces traditions while embracing innovation. He highlighted the need for a balance between the two during his address at the Combined Graduation Parade (CGP) at the Air Force Academy near Dundigul. Singh encouraged newly commissioned officers to remain open to new ideas, innovative thinking, and idealism.

He urged the officers to respect tradition in the Armed Forces, but also warned against blindly following tradition for an extended period, as it can lead to stagnation. To avoid this, he emphasized the importance of innovation to keep up with the ever-changing times. Singh stressed the crucial need to strike a balance between tradition and innovation.

Singh also discussed the need to maintain a connection with the ground while reaching for greater heights, emphasizing the importance of balancing tradition and innovation to avoid becoming stagnant.

During the event, Singh was received by Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari. A total of 213 Flight Cadets, including 25 women, were commissioned into various branches of the Indian Air Force. Additionally, officers from the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, and friendly countries were awarded ‘Wings’ upon completing their flying training.

The parade’s highlight was the ‘Commissioning Ceremony,’ during which graduating Flight Cadets were awarded their ‘Stripes’ by the Defence Minister. Flying Officer Atul Prakash and Flying Officer Amrinder Jeet Singh were recognized for their outstanding performance.

The CGP concluded with an exciting aerobatic show by various teams, marking a grand finale to the event.
